My soon to be married daughter Shanee Alster sent me a package from Jerusalem , Israel. She is a student of micro biology technology there. I received my favorite things , Israeli peanuts in a shell, Wissotzxy tea , and Elite Turkish coffee with and without cardamom. The peanuts have a harder crunchier texture than the ones in the USA. Even peanut farmer and USA president Jimmy Carter commented on them during his visit to Israel. Maybe because there is less water in Israel the peanuts are crunchier. I also received Turkish coffee with cardamom I love this stuff. The closest thing you get here is Greek coffee ( has more water in it) and espresso which is usually dark roast or Italian roast. I like the Elite brand but also received coffee directly from Arab coffee shops which are delicious. The Wissotzky teas are really special and have many floral varieties like rosehip and hibiscus; camomile; blood orange and mandarin a newer tea; rose chai - a bit strong; and my very favorite taste - fruit galore. Well anyways, if you like this blog tell friends to join and also get my memoir of life in Israel " Leaving Home, Going Home, Returning Home : A Hebrew American's Sojourn in the Land of Israel" .I compare this non fiction novel to " Under The Tuscan Sun" ; for the Mediterranean feeling " Eat, Pray, Love" for the morals in the story; and "The Hobbit" for the adventures in the book.
